Welcome

Does the Monk or Bard archetype give you a thrill somewhere deep in your psyche?

Do any of these phrases – Ancient Paths, Living Faith, Mythic Destiny –  resonate with you?

Are you a Gamer of some stripe who wishes your  life was more like your Player Character’s?

Are you an Evangelical or Bible-based Christian who is unsatisfied with regular church? Are you drawn to the mystic qualities or rituals in other Christian expressions, but nervous that your bible-based faith may be compromised?  Do you long to ‘practice the presence’ of God in all areas of life, but have been frustrated in your attempts to do so?

This is what the Lord says:
“Stop at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.
Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.

Jeremiah 6:16 NLT

The Monk and Bard website explores Celtic Christianity,  ancient Eastern Orthodox Monastic theology and  Christian Mystics, and their applications to personal and corporate spiritual expressions today, all from bible-based evangelical roots.  As you learn with me about the people, culture and theology surrounding these practices and follow my journey exploring them, you may be impressed to develop new spiritual practices of your own as tools help you grow in awareness of your relationship with our Saviour, Friend and Lover, Jesus, that you have always wanted.  I will review many books that have helped me in this regard.

There is much overlap between the Bard and the Monk in Celtic tradition.  I will explore particularly Bardic themes of the interrelatedness of the natural and spiritual worldecology as part of theology (and applied stewardship through Permaculture ),  and individual creative expression (being yourself) as essential to fulfilling  the unique call of the Creator on each life.

I will share personal anecdotes of my journey as both Monk and Bard, along with downloadable original poetry prayers, harp music and storytelling.

Are you ready to start down an ancient path?
